About Wellness Coaching

Wellness Goals are Not That Simple

It’s no wonder 99.9% of New Year’s resolutions never stick. Wellness goals are loaded with challenges. The path is not the same for everyone and consequently, we judge ourselves way too harshly when things don’t go according to the recommended plan. The good news is that research shows relying on willpower is nowhere near as effective as having a support system in place. Hiring a wellness coach dramatically increases your chances of success because you are not going it alone.

What is a typical Wellness Goal?
Wellness goals come from listening to your heart, your mind and your body. There is no right or wrong place to start. Ask yourself…

  • What does living well mean to you? Slowing down and capturing the moment? Turning down the noise in your mind, getting stronger, sleeping better? Taking better care of you?
  • If your body could talk, what would it say?
  • How can you see yourself feeling in six months?
  • How important is your wellness goal on a scale of 1 to 10?
  • What is a first step that you can actually see yourself taking?

The Coach Approach
A coach is with a client every step of the way. Unlike an expert who just lays out a prescribed plan, a coach works with you to stay on track. Together we discover thought patterns that get in the way, quiet your inner critic and re-energize your commitment and confidence. Some examples include:

  • Making contingency plans
  • Taking the word “should” out of the equation
  • Discovering your strengths and putting them to work
  • Focusing on what you will do, not what you won’t
  • Building reserves of positive emotions to get you through the tough times
  • Examining the connections between wellness and our environment
  • Developing a wellness toolbox of strategies that we know work for you!
