About Amy Tardio

Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to learn about me, positive psychology and coaching.

My Background in Health and Fitness

I have over 20 years of experience as an editor and contributor to national magazines like GQ and Self. My professional career began with a passion for sports and living a fit life. As an editor, I have worked with numerous experts in the fields of health and fitness, as well as professional athletes and celebrities to inspire readers toward a healthier and happier lifestyle.

Back to School

Several years ago, after I had my three sons, I went back to college to pursue a degree in Social Science. It was then I was introduced to the emerging field of positive psychology, the science of why people thrive. Intuitively, I knew the field of psychology would never be the same. Studying only what went “wrong” in life was, at best, only half the picture. This was a defining moment for me. Like fitness, positive psychology was a way to help people live healthier, more enjoyable lives. Making the decision to help people through coaching and writing about positive psychology suddenly became clear.

Health and Fitness + Positive Psychology

As a coach and a journalist my mission is to help people live well by embracing the connection between lifestyle and positivity. The benefits include healthier longer lives, better relationships, greater energy and productivity and the ability to bounce back and find benefits in setbacks.

Coach Training

My coaching training is through MentorCoach, a nationally recognized, Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP).

MentorCoach emphasizes evidence-based coaching and the science of Positive Psychology.

I hold dual certifications; Certified Mentor Coach (CMC) and Certified Wellness Coach (CWC).

MentorCoach certification requirements are rigorous; reflecting hundreds of hours of coursework, coaching, supervision, and successful completion of both written and oral exams at the ICF PCC level.

*ICF, (International Coach Federation) is a globally recognized, non-profit, organization dedicated to highest ethical and credentialing, and professional standards.
